The track was composed by Hatchet with credits to drummer Omar Perez and bassist Ian Heyman for writing their parts on their respective instruments. Hatchett captured the raw takes of “Rainy Daze,” at The Austin Conservatory of music with Connor Spencer Gryder and proceeded to get it mixed and mastered at The Machine Shop in Dripping Springs with Julian Gargiulo. Maddy’s guitar playing allows the guitar to speak with its own voice and gives a nice space within the 3:41-minutes long track for the listener to create their own daydream within the rainy ambience of the piece.ĭrawing influence from acts such as J ackie Venson, Haley Reinhart, and Linda Ronstadt, it’s easy to dream big for Maddy Hatchett as an upcoming artist and be excited for the next track she serves up. It is a real pleasure to see another woman behind the guitar and dominate it in a way that allows the guitar to also be in touch with its softer side. She serves up nostalgia with her music and in the present, as a heart-warming reminder of the lineage of musicians in families and as musicians that we may continue that legacy for years to come. (No wonder she’s got such a cool last name) She’s chosen to arm herself with the same 90’s Japanese Stratocaster frets her Grandpa Charlie once played. Hatchett lovingly took her stage name after him. The local artist’s sentimentality speaks for itself by continuing her Grandfather’s musical legacy. Released at the end of May and filled with lovely guitar leads and mellow feels, this track flows with notes of hope and sweet vocal runs while tackling the concept of love with lyrical craftsmanship and an old soul style despite Hatchett’s relative youth.
